After Plattsmouth’s foundation in 1854, the city benefitted from its strategic location, as the Main Street proximity to the Missouri River allowed for extensive business and travel opportunities. Amazing majestic houses were constructed in the downtown area. Numerous of these remarkable properties are listed on the National Historic Register and are still inhabited today.
